About product
The standard freeness tester measures pulp freeness. It is mainly applied to test values for production‑control of groundwood pulp, and also widely used for evaluating the change in drainability of various chemical pulps during beating and refining. Large quantities of fine fibres are generated in pulp processing, which may occasionally lead to abnormally elevated freeness readings (false freeness) below 100 mL. The freeness value does not necessarily correlate with the drainage performance of pulp on the paper‑machine wire.
Measurement Principle and Specifications
Freeness characterizes the drainability of diluted pulp suspension (3 g oven‑dry pulp in 1 L water), also referred to as freeness or drainage rate. It reflects the surface condition and swelling behaviour of fibres. In addition, test results are affected by experimental conditions such as pulp preparation, temperature and water quality.
Canadian Standard Freeness (CSF) is defined as the drainability of 1000 mL pulp suspension with a consistency of (0.3±0.0005) % at 20 ℃, measured by a Canadian freeness tester under specified conditions. The CSF value is expressed as the volume of water (mL) flowing out from the instrument side tube.

1.All pulp‑contact parts made of stainless steel
The chamber, funnel and screen plate in contact with pulp are constructed of high‑quality stainless steel. It features corrosion resistance, low pulp adhesion and easy cleaning. It prevents sample contamination and satisfies sanitary requirements for pulp testing.
2.Quick-open Sealed Hinged Lid Structure
The top cover adopts a hinge type quick lock mechanism for easy opening and closing. The sealing gasket provides reliable sealing. Simple operation enables fast sample loading and unloading, suitable for frequent laboratory tests. A ball type air inlet valve is fitted at the top to realize rapid and steady discharge of pulp stock.
3.Split‑type Funnel and Discharge Valve Assembly
The lower conical funnel is integrally machined. The discharge knob valve is equipped with a knurled anti‑slip knob for manual on‑off discharge control. It is easy to disassemble for flushing, with no dead corners for pulp‑stock residue.
4.Rigid Aluminum Alloy Mounting Base
The funnel‑chamber assembly is fixed by a precision aluminum‑alloy flange base. High structural rigidity eliminates shaking during operation, ensures split‑flow measurement accuracy and delivers excellent overall mechanical stability.
5.Compliant with Canadian Standard Freeness (CSF) Test Principle
It performs standard‑specified proportional split‑flow for pulp stock, accurately collects filtrate volume from the side tube to read CSF value directly. Measuring range: 0‑1000 CSF. Suitable for drainability testing of mechanical pulp and chemical pulp after beating and refining.
6.Easy‑maintenance Design
All wetted parts are detachable without dirt‑trapping gaps. Components can be directly water‑washed upon test completion. Simple disassembly supports routine maintenance and replacement of consumables including screen plate and sealing gasket.
